There are so many different types of browsers to choose from, but there are 5 that stand out above the rest. mozilla firefox,google chrome,internet explorer,opera,safari are the top 5 browsers on the market. However, the numbers may surprise you. While Internet Explorer may have ruled the roost several years ago, things are changing. In fact, there is one browser that people have opted to use the most over the past few years. Let’s take a closer look at each browser and then look at which web browser internet users use the most.
Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer has been available to internet users since 1995 and is Windows own personal browser. While it has been on the market for over 15 years, the browser has lost a lot of ground over the years. In fact, internet users often scoff at the idea of having to use the browser at all. However, in 2002, 83.4% of internet users chose Internet Explorer. In December of 2011 though, those numbers fell to 20.2%. Maybe that had something to do with Firefox?

Firefox is well known for it’s ability to be tweaked with add-ons and different skins that add a bit of personality to the browser window. Firefox first hit the market in 2004 with a dismal 23.6% using the software by the end of 2005. However, those numbers changed over the years and more importantly, the end of 2005 saw the decline of Internet Explorer with the number of users using IE only accounting for 68.9%, which was over a 15% drop since 2002.
opera
You might wonder why opera stands above Internet Explorer; well it is in fact still more efficient that Internet Explorer. The web browser is in fact rather light weight, as in the program has a smaller size and its easy storage makes the browser portable too. Another fact is that Opera is quite a well built web browser. The changing of tabs into thumbnails of web pages that you visit is indeed one of the many unique features that Opera offers and Internet Explorer does not contain. Thus certainly Opera is again a good web browser to have in your PC.
google chrome
Chrome was eagerly awaited by Google fans when it hit the market in 2008. However, that anticipation was short lived and soon turned to disappointment. In December 2008, Chrome accounted for 3.6% of the market. However, those numbers have changed and people began to accept Chrome as time went by with numbers reaching 34.6% in December 2011.whatever it is , it has the power to fly above firefox and explorer and all.

Sarafi was originally released as an Apple based browser, but in 2007 it was made available for Windows users. However, at the end of 2007, the browser only accounted for 1.8% of the market. The numbers have doubled over the years reaching 4.2% by the end of December 2011.
